Spændende personligheder under mulde

Guldager Kirkes sogneefter­middag den 3. september samlede næsten 40 deltagere til kirkegårds­vandringen

KIRKELIV – Det blev en interessant dag for deltagerne, da der onsdag den 3. september var sogneeftermiddag med kirkegårdsvandring ved Guldager Kirke. Kirkens graver og kirketjener, Søren Brydsø, guidede rundt og fortalte både om det daglige arbejde på kirkegården og de spændende historier om nogle af de mest markante gravsten.

Graver Søren Brydsø fortæller om den gamle døbefonts tidligere funktions om vandtrug, inden fonten vendte tilbage til kirken.

Deltagerne fik blandt andet fortalt historien om kirkegårdens største gravsted, nemlig kaptajn Hansens familiegravsted med de mange børnesten – hvoraf nogle vist endda er brugt på begge sider!

Det fredede gravsted for Peder Poulsen og familie blev også kommenteret. Peder Poulsen var meget aktiv leder af de lokale gymnastik- og folkedanserhold og var den første, som indførte musik til gymnastikken.

Musik han selv leverede på violin, samtidig med han instruerede, i øvrigt fik han også tid til, at komponere musikken til Guldagersangen, oplyser Marie Bertelsen fra Guldager Sognearkiv ved kaffen senere på eftermiddagen.

Grav med sekstant

Anne Kathrine Reuter Lapikis grav med den indmurede sekstant.

Det specielle grågrønne gravmæle over Anne Kathrine Reuter Lapiki med faderens sekstant blev naturligvis også både omtalt og set nærmere på.Rundgangen på den altid både særdeles frodige og og rydelige kirkegård sluttede med en omtale af de fredede gravsten, som er samlet lang det vestre kirkedige, og et smut udenfor diget til udkanten af det, der i løbet af de kommende 20-25 år skal blive sognets nye skovgravplads. I et hele taget lod Søren Brydsø ofte skinne igennem, at det ofte er meget lange tidshorisonter, man arbejder med på kirkegårdene, da gravstederne jo ikke blot umiddelbart kan omlægges, og de efterladte familiers aftaler jo også må respekteres.

Relief fra bombning
Efter rundgangen gik deltagerne indendørs i den nynoverede kirke. Her indledte sognepræst Brian Bannerholt med at fortælle om det særprægede relief i kirkens østlige gavl. Relieffet stammer fra bombningen af Esbjerg Lufthavn under Anden Verdenskrig. En bombning der var så kraftig, at kirkens murværk tog alvorlige skader, og efter reparationerne indsattes relieffet.
Guldager Kirke omtales første gang i 1290, men der har sandsynligvis været en kirkebygning på stedet allerede i i 1160.
Historien om et af kirkeskibenes ophav fra 1831 blev naturligvis også omtalt. Skibet er skænket af tidligere omtalte kaptajn Jens Hansen, der som kanonbådsfører under Englandskrigen måtte en tur i ’Prisonen’. Da han efter en flugt fra England og via Norge kom tilbage til Guldager, byggede han skibet, som en tak til Gud for hjælpen undervejs.


Brian Bannerholt fortæller om dåbsfadets historie og reliefferne med motiver fra de mange småbyer, sognet tidligere bestod af.

Kírkens dåbsfad har flere interessante relieffer med folk i typiske arbejdssituationer fra det tidligere, meget store sogns landsbyer, ligesom Brian Bannerholt muntert omtalte et par af de træskårne figurer i altertavlen fra 1670. Især den lille sæbebobleblæsende, tydeligvis en han-engel, er en af sognepræstens favoritter.
Bannerholts spændende fortælling om kirken omhandlede naturligvis også arbejdet med renoveringen, som havde stået på i perioden august 2018 til februar 2019, hvor kirkegængerne havde været henvist til kirkerne i enten Hostrup, Hjerting eller Sædding.

Hyggeligt samvær
Sogneeftermiddagen sluttede med et meget hyggeligt samvær i Guldager Forsamlingshus, hvor værterne, Tina og Thomas Lillerøj, trakterede med kaffe og både frisk- og hjemmebagte boller, inden alle igen skiltes og gik hver til sit efter nogle både spændende og hyggelige eftermiddagstimer.

To sogne – ét pastorat

Kirkerne i Guldager og Hostrup er to sogne, med hvert sit menighedsråd, med med fælles pastorat.
Sognene huser samlet ca. 5.400 borgere.
Sognepræster er Mette Præstegaard Friis og Brian Bannerholt
