Amazonas og Sjelborg

Amazonas og Sjelborg? Hvad er det for en mærkelig overskrift på en leder? Jo, de der følger med i den rødglødende debat for og imod boligbyggeri på området syd for Sjelborgvej har nok gættet sammenhængen.
For hvordan kan vi i enig flok hidse os voldsomt op, når skoven i Amazonas ryddes eller nedbrændes for at skaffe arealer til landbrug, når vi i lille Danmark, hvor vi har ryddet masser af skov de seneste 100 år for at skabe plads til landbrug og boliger, stadig ser os sultne på skønne naturområder til boligbyggeri? Områder, hvor vildt og mennesker nyder at være, som giver livskvalitet og mulighed for god fysisk udfoldelse.
Naturligvis er det for at tiltrække flere gode skatte­borgere til Esbjerg Kommune, og de vil som mange andre selvfølgelig gerne bo i vort naturskønne område ved porten til Vadehavet.
Men er det langsigtet at begynde at bruge de grønne områder til det? Lige pludselig er det måske bare ét stort villakvarter.
Heldigvis ser man flere og flere velbeliggende huse blive ombygget her i 6710. Det mindsker presset på naturen.
