SKOLESAGER – Få skoleledere har fået en så bizar start på sin ny karriere som Lene Aagaard Brandt på Aura Skolen. Hun startede i det ny drømmejob den 1. marts, og otte dage senere lukkede skolen, der er fordelt på fem matrikler, ned på grund af coronakrisen. Oven i det, så har en ekstraordinær millionbevilling fra Esbjerg Byråd betydet, at ganske omfattende renoveringsarbejder er sat i gang på skolen i Hjerting, hvor hun skulle have haft sit kontor. Det har hun derfor endnu ikke fået. Så vi låner et andet kontor og snakker videre under fotograferingen i de majgrønne omgivelser udenfor.
Lene Aagaard Brandt, 48 år, fra Vamdrup, er nu den øverste leder af alle Aura-skolerne. Eller leder af lederne, skulle man måske sige.
Interesseret i ledelse
På trods af nedlukningen fejler hendes kampgejst og arbejdsiver dog ikke noget denne torsdag, hvor de mindste elever er kommet tilbage, og skolen forbereder sig på at få de store tilbage. Selv om skolen har været lukket ned, har der været ledermøder på forskellig vis. Og der er meget at tage stilling til, før de store elever kan komme tilbage. Men hvem er hun, hvor kommer interessen for ledelse fra, og hvordan ser hun sin rolle i den utraditionelle skolestruktur, som Esbjerg Kommune har udformet med én overordnet leder for mange skoler?
Det med interessen for ledelse var hun allerede fanget af som ung.
”Jeg blev ansat i Dansk Supermarked og var lederaspirant. Men jeg så, hvordan de andre ledere tilsidesatte deres familie- og fritidsliv for deres arbejde. Og sådan et liv ønskede jeg ikke som leder,” fortæller hun.
Ser ledelse som et fag
Hun blev i stedet folkeskolelærer og tog en lederuddannelse. Det via andre job ført hende til stillingen som skoleleder på Aura Skolen. Og det arbejde glæder hun sig til virkelig til
”Stillingen var enormt interessant for mig. Jeg betragter ledelse som et fag, og her er det ledelse af ledere, dels de pædagogiske ledere for undervisning, de pædagogiske ledere for fritid og for den administrative leder, det gør endnu mere spændende,” siger hun.
Gode idéer fra lederne
”Ledelse er at skabe resultater gennem andre, og det arbejde er spændende, synes jeg. Jeg vil gerne være den katalysator, der sammen gør os stærkere,” tilføjer hun og glæder sig over, at lederne er fantastisk gode til at komme med tilbagemeldinger og idéer. For hun ønsker ikke noget soloridt.
Skolen har nu den fjerde leder på kun fem år, men står det til Lene Aagaard Brandt kommer hun til at være på sin post i en rum tid. Og hun vil gøre meget ud at komme ud på alle skoler løbende.
Lene Aagaard Brandt holder til på Hjerting Skole, men vil meget jævnligt besøge de fire andre skoler.
Pædagogisk set, så handler det om at få forankret de strategier, der er lagt – og at få dem ført ud i livet. Vi skal skåne læserne for de mange fremmedord og engelske termer, så vi lader den ny skoleleder forklare:
”Vi skal have vidensdeling på tværs af matriklerne. Og vi skal give eleverne færdigheder, der gør dem klar til en fremtid, som hverken vi eller de kender. Det handler om kommunikation, samarbejde, kreativitet og kritisk tænkning. Ud fra det skal vi uddanne vore elever,” påpeger hun.
Engagerede forældre
Mødet med forældrene har hun kun gode erfaringer med:
”Jeg oplever ikke krævende forældre. Jeg oplever engagerede forældre. Jeg har en helt enorm lydhør skolebestyrelse, og der er en god stemning, en god energi og mange konstruktive indspark. Det er virkelig godt set fra en ledersynsvinkel,” slutter hun.

Lene Aagaard Brandt er født i Aalborg, men familien flyttede tidligt til Kolding, hvor hun voksede op.
Hun er født den 6. maj 1972 og er dermed for nylig fyldt 48 år.
Hun bor i Vamdrup med sin mand og har to voksne børn.
Som ung var hun en meget aktiv håndboldtræner. Hun var også aktiv i rideverdenen.
Hun er stadig aktiv konkurrencerytter indenfor dressur.
Som ung fik hun job i Dansk Supermarked og ville gå ledervejen, men det blev lærergerningen, der vandt.
Hun gik på Haderslev Statsseminarium og var færdiguddannet i 1999.
Hendes første stilling som lærer fik hun på Kongsbjergskolen i daværende Lunderskov Kommune. Hun underviste i matematik, hjemkundskab og dansk. Desuden arbejdede hun med specialundervisning.
Senere, som lærer på Alminde-Viuf Fællesskole i Kolding Kommune, tog hun lederuddannelsen Lærer til leder, som var en diplomuddannelse. Den var afsluttet i 2006.
Lene Aagaard Brandts første lederjob var som souschef på Brændkjærskolen i Kolding. Den stilling havde hun i seks et halvt år.
Fra 1. februar 2013 var hun skoleleder på Skanderup-Hjarup Fællesskole. Den lå i ’grænselandet’ mellem Lunderskov og Vamdrup kommuner og blev bygget af dem begge til de elever, der boede i det område. Begge borgmestre var derfor noget usædvanligt med i skolebestyrelsen.
Efter syv år fik hun 1. marts stillingen som skoleleder på Aura Skolen, der er spredt på fem matrikler.
Hun er dermed øverste chef for alle pædagogiske ledere for undervisning og fritid. Ved siden af sig skulle hun have haft en administrativ leder, men stillingen er for tiden vakant.
