BIBLIOTEKER – Sædding Fovrfeld Lokalråd kalder nu til kamp imod lukning af Sædding Bibliotek i Sædding Centret. Lokalrådet, der ikke er bleg for at kalde sig Esbjerg Kommunes stædigste, kan slet ikke acceptere, at et elsket bibliotek med stigende besøgs- og udlånstal ikke kan blive bevaret. Derfor indkaldes der til borgermøde i Mødestedet i selvsamme center tirsdag den 4. februar klokken 19.
”Politikerne siger, der ikke er tale om en spareplan, men hvis man lukker de tre bydelsbiblioteker, spares der 1,8 millioner kroner. Vi har 14 procent af udlånene og besøgene og er næststørst hele i kommunen. Hvorfor lukke os? Vi vil være sikre på, at politikerne har forstået, at det ikke kun er os i lokalrådet, men også borgerne, der vil bevare biblioteket. Måske kommer politikerne til mødet og lytter til os og dem,” siger Hans Jørn Christensen, der er sekretær i lokalrådet om baggrunden for borgermødet.

Biblioteksspot
At der måske kommer et såkaldt ’biblioteksspot’ i Hjerting i stedet for bogbussen, ændrer ikke lokalrådets holdning. Sædding Bibliotek ligger godt, der er masser af parkeringspladser, som får folk fra Hjerting og Sønderris til at besøge biblioteket, påpeger næstformand Jarl Thiesen.
Og det gavner de ældre i området, at det er der.
”Vi kan jo se, at mange ældre kommer på biblioteket, læser aviser og bruger it-faciliteterne. De får øje på de aktiviteter, vi har i Mødestedet lige overfor, fortæller Claus Brinch-Danielsen fra frivilligforeningen Træfpunkt Sædding, som har foreninger med cirka 650 aktive tilknyttet. Mange af dem er ældre medborgere.
”Lukkes biblioteket, mister folk kvalitetstid,” tilføjer Jarl Thiesen.
”Og vi mister det sociale mødested. Mange her i kvarteret er enlige, ældre og lavtlønnede og har brug for steder at komme,” tilføjer Claus Brinch-Danielsen.
Hans Jørn Christensen tror ikke, at løbet er kørt:
”Nej, det tror jeg ikke, Når de oplever den proteststorm, der vil komme, vil de ikke kunne sidde den overhørig. Vi er en terrier, der bider sig fast, det ved de vist også godt fra andre sager.”
